Wests Group Macarthur has opened a pub-style venue, The Sherwood, next to Campbelltown Sports Stadium. The venue centres around an outdoor courtyard with dining and live sport.
The south-west Sydney venue is built on the site of the former Wests Tennis Club in Leumeah and will offer alfresco dining, lush greenery and live entertainment year-round.
Share-style dishes feature prominently with a Korean-style pork belly, Roku Gin-cured kingfish and some old favourites reimagined like hand-smashed burgers.
Wests Group Macarthur CEO, Daniel Perkiss, said The Sherwood is bringing the local community a new style of venue to create a world-class sports and entertainment precinct.
“Our team has achieved a tavern style open plan feel, complemented by an enormous 4.5m by 2.5m outdoor screen to deliver optimum sports viewing and on-trend dining in a package not traditionally seen by club operators,” he said.
There will be a signature cocktail menu featuring nostalgic flavours like “Rainbow Paddle Pop” and a wide selection of tap beers including rotating taps dedicated to partnerships with local brewers.
Curtin Architects teamed up with Interior Designer Ruth Harris from Redwah Design Studio to bring the venue to life with finishes that are a combination of premium textures such as marble, stone, timber joinery, lush planting and gold touches all delivered with a classic retro vibe.
As part of Wests Group’s commitment to represent the local area, there’s a map of Campbelltown on a large steel panel on the side of the building, as well as on the carpet inside. The name ‘The Sherwood’ was inspired by the former suburb, Sherwood Hills, a gentle nod to the history of Campbelltown.
The Sherwood, which will be helmed by venue manager Julia Maulguet, is the latest addition to the Wests Group Macarthur portfolio, which also includes Wests League Club Campbelltown, Country Club Gledswood Hills and Lakeside Golf Club Camden.
