After more than two decades of negotiations with council, Warringah Golf Club is finally set to break ground on a new clubhouse on 27 July.

The milestone comes after the club sold its former clubhouse on Condamine Street in 2021 and recently secured two 20-year council leases: one covering its full 18-hole golf course, and another for the site of its future clubhouse at the Warringah Recreation Centre.

The club will invest up to $11 million to build the two-storey venue. Overlooking the golf course, the clubhouse’s upper floor will feature a restaurant, lounge area that will double as a function space, and sports bar. Downstairs will be home to the administration office, main garden bar, and pro shop.

Club president Scott Campbell expressed how the plans have been a long time coming and is optimistic about what the new clubhouse will mean for the local community, golf club members, recreational golfers, tennis and squash players from the adjacent redeveloped Warringah Recreation Centre plus local sporting groups.

“We see this as way to secure the club’s future and to be able to put back not only into the golf course, but other sporting bodies that are associated [with the Warringah Recreation Centre], and provide a really nice amenity that the area has not had for a long, long time,” he said.

“Back when there was the North Manly Bowling Club, they had music on Sundays, which we intend to do, so it becomes a really nice place to take your family.

“We really want to engage with the local community and all the other sporting bodies, including tennis and squash, cricket, football, rugby union, rugby league, and touch football.”

In addition to the upgraded facilities, Campbell said the new clubhouse will feature sustainability initiatives, including energy-efficient systems, solar power and solar water heating systems, water conservation measures, and eco-friendly materials.

With Prime Projects behind the build, construction is expected to take 10 months with a scheduled completion date of early April 2026.

“Our team is committed to delivering a top-tier clubhouse that will serve as a high-class asset for the club, its members and the local community for years to come. We look forward to seeing the vision come to life,” Prime Projects managing director Daniel Swinnerton said.
