South Tamworth Bowling Club (STBC) is lending a helping hand to West Tamworth Bowling Club (WTBC) while it assesses its future to ensure long-term viability.
In the short-term, STBC will provide business and operational support to WTBC over the coming months. This will include executive and managerial oversight, as well as provide additional staffing to help WTBC continue its operations.
STBC CEO Matthew Hill said the initiative reflects a shared commitment and camaraderie between the two clubs.
“The main premise is why we’re doing this is because we work in the same community. We have shared members and we’re both very active in the bowling community. Tamworth is big enough for us all and we’re happy to help,” he said.
“They’re going through a period of reassessing their future pathways to help them succeed in the future, and we’re operationally helping them through that process.”
Hill emphasised the importance of ensuring the future viability of bowls clubs like WTBC.
“West Tamworth has a lot of dedicated members. We know those members. We play against those members. We drink with those members. We’re all in the same community, and so when they asked for a bit of help, we said, ‘Of course!’”
Discussions remain ongoing about long-term strategies to protect and grow the game locally.
