Veteran club manager Sam O’Donoghue has been appointed General Manager at CSC Group, which includes Caboolture Sports Club, North Lakes Sports Club and Sports Central Caboolture. O’Donoghue was previously Operations Manager at Norths Devils Leagues Club. Prior to that, O’Donoghue had worked at The Surf Club Mooloolaba, The Lion Richlands, Maroochy Surf Club and Ipswich Jets Leagues Club.
Among the CSC Group clubs, North Lakes Sports was Clubs Queensland’s 2022 Club of the Year – Grand on the back of completing a $2.8m refurbishment last year that brought premium dining and bar experiences to the local community.
Council has also recently joined forces with the Caboolture Sports Club, and the Federal and Queensland Governments to build a new $6.15 million rugby union and touch football facility at Petersen Road Sports Ground, Morayfield, for nearly 2000 local players who use the existing facility.
The Federal Government has contributed $1.5 million, CSC $1.36 million, State Government $1 million, while Council will make up the remaining $2.3 million.
This is the second project to be delivered as a direct result of the council’s sports infrastructure partnership with Caboolture Sports Club, which holds 10 leases and 22 sports field permits across nine council sports venues across the region.
Formed in the Moreton Bay Region in the early 1990s by six local sporting clubs, CSC first opened its doors in December 1997. During its evolution, CSC Group took over Centenary Lakes Bowls Club, built and opened North Lakes Sports Club and stepped in to take over the failed Caboolture RSL and turn it into Sports Central.
Caboolture Sports Club now supports about 300 sporting clubs, individual athletes, community groups, schools and community events each year.
