Property developer Perifa together with investment partner Mitsubishi Estate Asia (MEA) have acquired the former Balmain Leagues Club site, Rozelle Village, from Chinese developer Heworth Holdings.
The dilapidated site in Sydney’s inner west has been sitting vacant since 2010, following various failed plans, financial hurdles, and state government delays.
However, the owners of the new site are confident they will be able about deliver the vision of Rozelle Village.
“We are thrilled to embark on a new era for one of Sydney’s most iconic and anticipated development sites alongside our investment partner Mitsubishi Estate Asia Pte. Ltd,” Perifa announced in a LinkedIn post.
“Leveraging our joint expertise, Rozelle Village will become a landmark destination for the Inner West and a vibrant new heart for the community.
Designed by local architecture practice Studio.SC, formerly Scott Carver, with interiors by SJB and landscaping by Arcadia, Rozelle Village will be home to the new long-awaited HQ for West Ashfield Leagues Club.
Apart from a new club home, the mixed-use precinct will feature a village square and major retail precinct with supermarket, commercial spaces and a dining precinct connected via a network of laneways.
Demolition of the site began last October following further delays and is now nearing completion, with the project currently progressing through a State Significant Development Application process.
Versatile Construction is slated to commence main building works by the end of Q2 2025, with project completion anticipated in 2028.
