Mingara's The Greens proposal at The Entrance has been greenlit by the local planning panel.

Mingara Leisure Group’s DA for the fire-ravaged The Greens, The Entrance has been approved by the Central Coast Regional Planning Panel. The original clubhouse was devastated by an electrical fire in March 2020 and had to be demolished with plans to rebuild the club set back by numerous delays.

Work will now begin on rebuilding the NSW Central Coast clubhouse for members who have been working out of a temporary space, nicknamed The Greenkeepers Shed.

Mingara Leisure Group CEO Paul Barnett said he was pleased construction of The Greens project can finally begin.

“This project has received great support from the local community and Central Coast Council and our members have been incredibly patient as we have navigated this process,” he said. “The unprecedented times we have all endured over the last two years have contributed to longer than expected timeframes, so this DA approval is a great news story for the local community.”

The DA has been approved with deferred consent, requiring Mingara Leisure Group to address some unresolved encroachment issues with the property boundaries, some of which date back to when the club was first established more than 80 years ago. Additional car parking will also be required.

While these items are being remedied with Central Coast Council, Mingara Leisure Group will move forward with preparing construction documentation. The DA approval also includes two covered bowling greens, which were part of the Group’s original amalgamation proposal with The Greens which went through in September 2019.

“We envisage a 12-month construction timeline for this project and expect to commence building mid-2023,” Barnett said. “It will be great to deliver this project as intended to our members.”

Mingara Leisure Group has also received approval from Central Coast Council to purchase the land.

“We are working with Council on the re-classification of this land, which will take some time to be finalised before the purchase can be completed,” he said.

Mingara Leisure Group also has in its stable, Mingara Recreation Club on the Central Coast, The Westport Club in Port Macquarie, Lantern Club in Roselands and Springwood Sports Club in the Blue Mountains.
