Liverpool Catholic Club is nearing the completion of its extensive renovations, marking the final stage of a multi-year refurbishment project that has been underway for the past five to six years.

Working alongside Altis Architecture and Richard Crookes Construction Interiors, the club has invested $11 million into the last phase of the revamp, which includes updates to the cafe, lounge, and foyer.

The newly completed cafe, Rosemary & Thyme, serves as a transition between the old and new sections of the club. Designed with earthy tones of burnt orange, olive green, and accents of white and black, the space is filled with greenery and features an open, airy layout with designated areas for dining, ordering, and lounging.

The foyer is also receiving a facelift, incorporating high ceilings and natural light filtered through timber details to enhance both comfort and elegance.

Another key highlight of the current renovations is the introduction of a new bar lounge. Featuring dark tones, luxurious materials, and dramatic lighting, the space is further elevated by a striking skylight that bathes the lounge in natural daylight, while an eye-catching sculpture serves as a focal point in the evening. Intimate seating zones are being integrated to provide members with a cosy setting to socialise or unwind and enjoy some live music.

“The club is committed to regularly updating its facilities, ensuring the venue remains modern and inviting,” Liverpool Catholic Club CEO Dave Vilder said.

“This renovation aims to unify the entry, cafe, and bar lounge areas with the recently updated sections of the club. The design emphasises harmony and cohesion, creating timeless yet stylish spaces that celebrate the contrasts between the club’s venues while maintaining a balanced aesthetic.

“The spaces are transformed by bringing the beautiful daylight and landscape inside during the day, while at night, they transition into a moody and luxurious venue.”

This latest stage follows a series of major refurbishments at Liverpool Catholic Club. The club previously transformed its dining precinct, The Laneway, alongside function rooms and gaming areas.

In July 2023, the Grand Ballroom reopened after a $6 million renovation, boasting a sleek and modern design that accommodates up to 700 guests for banquets or more than 1,000 in a theatre-style setting.

In the same year, the club’s gaming area underwent a $15 million overhaul, introducing a spacious, contemporary layout to enhance guest comfort and experience.

Looking ahead, the club is preparing to lodge a development application for an overhaul of its a la carte restaurant. The proposed $15 million project aims to transform the space into a modern Asian fusion dining destination, while also creating a dedicated area for hotel breakfasts and smaller functions.
