The doors to the new Gosford RSL clubhouse are now open after two years of construction.
The $50 million upgrade has resulted in a strikingly modern new three-storey venue being constructed. Throughout the building there are various concrete finishes, lush greenery, and multi-tonal, geometric-patterned flooring.
On the ground floor is a grand port-cochere entry that leads members and visitors into the reception that services both the RSL and the adjoining motel. The new RSL museum can also be found on the ground floor. The museum that commemorates the servicemen from the region, spanning from the Boer Wars to more cent conflicts.
The first floor is home to The Gardens, a dining precinct and recreation hub that encompasses a bar, lounge, cafe, multiple dining areas, kids’ play zone, and a teenage retreat. Enough to cater for up to 1,000 patrons, The Gardens offers food ranging from modern Australian, Asian fusion, Argentinian grill, and wood-fired pizzas.
Level two is home to the Grandstand sports bar, complete with multiple screens including a massive five-metre by three-metre screen, competition-sized snooker and billard tables, and a top-notch sound system. It’s on this level patrons will also find The Gallery, a new multifunctional conference and events centre, which is slated to open in May. The new home of the Oak Haven Brewery can also be found on the second level.
“Our new building makes a bold statement at the gateway to the Central Coast, providing exceptional hospitality spaces and premier conference and events facilities to entertain both locals and visitors,” Gosford RSL CEO Russel Cooper said.
“This project has not only created hundreds of jobs and injected millions into the local economy, but also led to the hiring of over 50 new staff members. We’re thrilled to unveil the new Gosford RSL Club, featuring the Gardens, the Grandstand, and the Gallery.
“While our building offers a wow-factor and top-notch food and drinks, it’s our commitment to exceptional service that remains unchanged. The warm, personable, and professional service that defines Gosford RSL will continue to be our hallmark.”
Gosford RSL worked with North Construction and Building, WMK Architecture, and The APP Group on the redevelopment.
The existing RSL club remained operational during the construction. However, the club said it will now be demolished to make way for an additional 154 car parking spaces, with anticipation patron numbers will increase with the new clubhouse.
Gosford RSL Club Group has been operating since 1960, has about 25,000 members, consists of Gosford RSL Club, The Galaxy Motel and the Ashwood Motel, and employs more than 130 staff.
