Gosford RSL Club’s Oak Haven brewery has been awarded two gold and two bronze medals at the 2023 Australian International Beer Awards, the largest annual beer competition in the world judging both draught and packaged beer.
Oak Haven took home the gold for Sly Grog ( Kölsch – German-Style / Köln Style Pale Ale) and Rusty Sail (Mid Strength) as well as the bronze for Dr. Paul’s Pils (Mid Strength Pale Ale) and Bolthole (Porter Style Dark Ale).
This year the Melbourne Royal Australian International Beer Awards celebrated 30 years. In 2023, the Awards offered 11 major trophies, including the coveted Champion Australian Beer and Champion International Beer trophies, as well as 24 category trophies. Judging took place over four days in May at Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale, Victoria. The results were announced at the Trophy Presentation Dinner on Thursday, 25 May.
The ales at Oak Haven, in West Gosford, are crafted by brewer Steve Morenos, who has 13 years experience in brewing American, British, European and Belgian beers. The naming of the brewery and the beers pay tribute to the origins of Gosford RSL Club.
“We are extremely proud of our award-winning beers and also being recognised by our industry peers at the 2023 Australian International Beer Awards; this is an incredible achievement,” Morenos told Club Management.
“With our highest standards, we pride ourselves in producing outstanding beers that our members and guests have come to love.”
Oak Haven features state-of-the-art equipment, uses fresh local produce where possible, has no preservatives or artificial ingredients, supports farmers using ethical & environmental practices and utilises the world’s best, high-purity hops.
