Frenchville Sports Club has secured a partnership with the Sunshine Coast Wanderers Football Club for the 2026 season.

Through this partnership, Frenchville players will gain access to national and international coaching expertise, including world-renowned football figures such as former Matildas coach Greg Brown, as well as opportunities to host international players like ex-England and Liverpool FC legend Emile Heskey.

“This is a game-changer for football in Central Queensland,” Frenchville Sports Club chairman Graeme Brady said.

“By aligning with the Sunshine Coast Wanderers, we are connecting our players with some of the best coaches and resources in the country. It’s about raising the bar for our local athletes and giving them the same opportunities as players in larger football hubs.”

While it’s still early days, the partnership has already seen Heskey and Brown recently spending time at Frenchville Sports Club hosting high-level coaching clinics and player development sessions for local juniors

The partnership is also expected to deliver pathways for player identification, giving Frenchville players the chance to be recognised and developed for higher levels of competition. Hands-on training with top coaches will sharpen technical and tactical skills, while knowledge-sharing initiatives will strengthen coaching standards and player development at every level.

It comes as the club works on upgrading Ryan Park and its facilities including its grandstand, accessibility viewing platform, and bathrooms, as part of the club’s multi-phase renovation. Works are scheduled to be completed later this month.
