An investigation is continuing into how $1 holding fees were charged to people who have never used ClubsNSW services.

The body which represents 1200 registered clubs was made aware of an issue with its third-party payment gateway system provider last week.

In response, according to a spokesperson for ClubsNSW, it immediately launched an investigation into the issue.

“At this stage, we have identified that a $1 holding fee may have been charged on credit cards,” the spokesperson said.

“The individuals who have contacted us about this issue are not customers of ClubsNSW or connected to ClubsNSW in any way.”

ClubsNSW said it does not have contact details of everyone who might be affected and is encouraging them to contact their bank or provider as soon as possible to seek advice on disputing the charge.

“We acknowledge the inconvenience caused to the individuals impacted by this issue and are committed to assisting them in any way possible,” the spokesperson said.
