Club Marconi is now halfway through its four-stage renovation program, following the overhaul of its sports bar, dining room, and cafe to enhance its food and beverage offering.

Chief operating officer Caterina Romeo said the six-month renovations reflect Club Marconi’s vision to move away from a traditional club design and create a modern venue that feels more like a restaurant, designed to cater for all age groups and families. The club worked with Squillace Architects, Alerce, Cerno Group, and WED Group on the project.

“We’re transforming our ground floor food, beverage, and entertainment offerings to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that appeals to young families, our valued members, and the wider community,” she said.

“We want members to enjoy modernised spaces designed to enhance their experience and make every visit memorable.”

Some of the key features unveiled in stage two include a sports bar with state-of-the-art large screen TVs, a mix of high stools and low lounge-style seating options, open-plan connectivity to the main bar, and a modern aesthetic appealing to a younger demographic.

Meanwhile, the dining room has been designed to flow seamlessly from the open-plan kitchen completed in stage one.

“This family-friendly space caters to large groups with a mix of loose tables and built-in banquettes. The design incorporates vibrant colours and natural materials to create an authentic Italian-inspired look,” Romeo said.

The cafe celebrates Club Marconi’s coffee culture and displays deli-style produce and fresh offerings.

“This space has its own unique design character, creating a feeling of intimacy and comfort,” Romeo said.

“Additionally, the cafe features a beautiful gelato display for kids, adorned with Calacatta Viola, custom brass metalwork, and handmade ice cream sculptures, making it a central design feature.”

Romeo said the club’s growing emphasis on food and beverage is central to its overall strategy.

“We understand that our members and the wider community expect nothing less than exceptional food and a warm, inviting atmosphere to enjoy their time,” she said.

“We want our members and the community to ultimately feel proud of the venue that they bring their family and friends to, celebrating together over delicious food and drinks in a vibrant and welcoming setting.”

According to Romeo, the unveiling of stage two brought an “immediate surge” in visitors.

“The joy and awe on the faces of our foundation and longstanding members during their first viewing was truly heartwarming bringing to fruition their long-held dream of witnessing Club Marconi’s growth and transformation, which is now becoming a reality,” she said.

To date, the club has invested $12.5 million into overhauling its spaces.

Looking ahead, Romeo said the club will continue towards its plans of introducing a cocktail lounge and an indoor-outdoor entertainment pavilion that will have double-height arched steel portals, raised private booths, and a feature tree.
