Brothers Leagues Cairns has unveiled Fratelli’s, its upscale cafe, which is the latest stage of its major $7 million renovation. At the heart of the downstairs refurb, Fratelli’s features floor-to-ceiling windows on a corner of the building sheltered by a Mediterranean blue awning. Taking inspiration from the theme, the new cafe features all-day, Mediterranean-inspired grazing options along with pizzas, coffees, snacks and treats.

Fratelli’s (fratelli means brothers in Italian) follows on from the opening of the new Q Sports Bar and refurbed gaming room which both opened earlier this year. The Dreams function room, which can cater for up to 200 guests and features an island bar and alfresco deck area, was also unveiled.

Inspiration for the renovations included membership profiling and surveys conducted by Brothers’ marketing consultants Maer Group in 2020. The results highlighted the opportunity to attract a slightly younger audience and build its female membership.

This included Brothers moving away from its former buffet to a new bistro format and also including the elevated Fratelli’s café offering.

The inclusion of a separate entrance for the sports bar has also been added to help zone off the different offerings and to meet the needs of its different target markets. The number of EGMs in the gaming room was also reduced in response to requests for space between machines.

Another result of the renovation is a more efficient venue with a lower carbon footprint and reduced power bills.

Completed by builders Rubicon Constructions, it is the first major development at Brothers Cairns since 2014.
