One of the new offerings at Paradise Point Bowling Club.

Recent $1.3 million renovations to Paradise Point Bowls Club’s restaurant, gaming room and three bowling greens have resulted in a membership surge with about 100 new people signing on each month. Such is its popularity, bookings are now essential for anyone wanting to dine in the club’s restaurant on Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights.

Paradise Point, at the northern end of Queensland’s Gold Coast, will be one of the host clubs for this year’s Australian Open Bowls Championships running on the Gold Coast from 11–22 June.

The club’s fully-renovated undercover green is now back in action and both outside greens are running well after their annual service so visiting bowlers from throughout Australia are in for a treat. The club will launch its winter menu just before the Australian Open Bowls Championships.

“We used to have room for a lot of dining room walk-ins on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights,’’ a club spokesperson said. “Not now. You really need to book if you want a table.

“We are changing to our winter menu soon – think luscious lamb shanks. We have new chefs and the locals are loving the food.

“Our growth is mainly by word of mouth as people come in, try the food, and then recommend it to their friends. The restaurant renovation opened the dining room up so now people have an awesome view out over our bowling greens while they eat.

“All our long-term favourites will stay on the menu, but there’s many new things to taste – and everyone is giving it the thumbs up!”

It’s good to see the club is also having fun with food declaring 29 July as International Lasagne Day with members able to choose from a chicken and mushroom, beef or a veggie lasagne, from $15 a serve.

The club has also opened a new kids’ play area and has renovated its gaming room, including updating 60 EGMs to state-of-the-art devices.

Paradise Point is also supporting live music with entertainment every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and once a month the club puts on a free show for members. On 25 June, the show will be Dusty & The Divas, a tribute to Dusty Springfield, Dolly Parton and other great female music icons.
