Bankstown Sports veteran Michael Clancy has been officially appointed Group CEO, replacing long-term chief executive Mark Condi who resigned suddenly a year ago. Having spent his childhood and young adult years living in the area, Clancy has worked with Bankstown Sports for 24 years and has been interim CEO for the past 12 months.
Clancy has managed operations at several venues within the Group including the Dunc Grey Velodrome, The Handle Bar Tavern, Baulkham Hills Sports Club, The Acres Club, and most recently, Bankstown Sports. Condi has since joined Justin Hemmes’ Merivale as Group General Manager – Commercial.
During his time at the Group, Clancy has co-ordinated and managed the amalgamation process of several venues bringing them under the Bankstown Sports Group brand and has also played an active role in employee recruitment and development.
“Incredibly humbled to be given the opportunity to lead such a wonderful team within a dynamic, forward-thinking organisation,” Clancy posted. “I love this club and I love our local community, and I look forward to leading the Bankstown Sports Group in the years to come.”
“During the COVID pandemic, Clancy delicately managed the executive and front-of-house teams during two lockdowns and played a key role in the successful reopening of several venues,” the club said.
In other club appointments, Adam Wiencke has started a new position as Group General Manager at Goodna Services Club Inc, which operates Club Parkview and Club Burleigh.
The Goodna Services Club, severely damaged by devastating floods in February 2022, reopened earlier this year as Club Parkview.
The rebuilding of the club in Brisbane’s western corridor was brought forward from an existing masterplan and was overseen by Wiencke who was, at the time, General Manager of Goodna Services Club.
