Victoria Racing Club has suffered a cyber attack, potentially exposing thousands of member data.
In a statement chief executive Steve Rosich said an “unauthorised third party” accessed the club’s system.
“We are urgently investigating to determine whether there has been unauthorised access to our data,” he said.
“We are operating as normal and there has been no disruption to our operations. We are informing employees, members, partners and sponsors about the incident, to encourage them to practise cyber vigilance and remain alert for scams while our investigation is ongoing.”
Rosich said as soon as the club detected the incident, immediate steps were taken to contain the incident and leading experts were brought in to assist with the club’s response and investigation. He said the incident has been reported to the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC).
“The protection of all of our stakeholders’ information is our upmost priority and we apologise for any concern that this incident has caused.”
Rosich added the club will reach out to members if its investigation finds evidence that personal information has been affected by the cyberattack.
This is the latest cyber attack on the industry, following the cybersecurity attack on several NSW clubs last month.
