A $3.5 million plan by Wagga RSL Club to construct a new outdoor lounge, outdoor gaming area and new children’s play areas has been approved by Council. An outdoor gaming area will be converted into an outdoor lounge, while the existing back-of-house storage area and kids’ playroom will become the new outdoor gaming area. The outdoor lounge area will also overlook the bowling greens and have views to the nearby Murrumbidgee Turf Club.
The successful application also included a greenskeeper’s area, a new workshop, new lift and covered walkway for the entrance. Works will take up to eight months and are expected to be completed by the middle of 2023.
Wagga RSL is also looking to revitalise the former Wagga Commercial Club which ceased operation in 2020, more than a decade after it merged with the RSL club in 2009.
The club is looking to rezone the land from private recreation usage to office space as it has ample parking in the CBD.
Wagga RSL also offers a motel and apartments for both holidaymakers and corporate travellers.
