Frenchville Sports Club marked the completion of its $25 million, multi-stage redevelopment with veiling of a plaque by Queensland premier David Crisafulli.
“The opening of the Frenchville Sports Club is a proud moment for Rockhampton, and a proud moment for regional Queensland,” Crisafulli said.
“Sporting clubs are where regional communities thrive, where people matter, where sport shines, and where those who need a helping hand will always be welcomed.”
“By backing projects like this, we are setting up regional Queensland to capitalise on the opportunities of 2032 and build a stronger future for generations to come.”
The two-year transformation, delivered in partnership with Ashley Cooper Constructions and BSPN Architecture, was completed over four major stages and saw every aspect of the club transformed. It included the introduction of new spaces, such as the Embers Bistro, Luxe Lounge, Aroma’s Cafe, The Atrium, Dusk Lounge, a new sports bar, the Kids Clubhouse, and now, the function centre.
“This project has been about more than construction, it’s been about reinvestment in our people, our region, and our community,” CEO Damien Massingham said.
“We’ve created spaces that bring people together, from families enjoying dinner to major corporate events that drive local tourism and opportunity. The Premier’s presence to reopen the club reflects what this club means to Central Queensland.”
Chairman Graeme Brady said the occasion represents a defining chapter in the club’s 77-year story.
“When we first began this journey, we set out to create something truly special. A modern, welcoming destination for our community to connect, celebrate and belong,” he said.
“Today, we stand proudly in a venue that reflects not just years of hard work, but decades of commitment to the people of Rockhampton. This project is a testament to what can be achieved when community, vision and determination come together.”
