Matt Underwood adds to awards list with NSW Wine President’s Award for Outstanding Support of Wine Industry.
Matt Underwood from The Newcastle Club, Newcastle, has picked up the 2023 NSW Wine President’s Award for Outstanding Support of the NSW Wine Industry. The industry award is presented at the discretion of the President of the NSW Wine Industry Association, Mark Bourne, and given to someone who has shown commitment to showcasing NSW wines.
“They have an extraordinary international winelist, extraordinary service and attention to detail, a wide breadth of NSW wine regions and an impressive 82 NSW wines on their list, which must make them one of the largest NSW wine lists in Australia,” Bourne said.
The awards were held at Parliament House Sydney on Tuesday night, 27 June. The Newcastle Club wins complimentary entry into the 2023 Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards and Underwood gets an exclusive mixed case of award-winning NSW wines.
Underwood has been at the forefront of wine in the clubs’ industry since starting at the venue 15 years ago. The club also picked up the inaugural award for Best NSW Wine List in a Club venue last year. The Newcastle Club has also previously won Best Listing of NSW Wines for two years in a row, 2019 and 2020 at Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards.
