Moorebank Sports – affectionately known by locals as Sporties – has been relishing in its new look since the start of the year after the club completed its $6 million renovation.
“The aim of this renovation was to make better use of the space in our venue and to upgrade our facilities to provide members and guests with a top-quality customer service experience every time they visit,” Sporties chairman Alby Taylor said.
As part of the revamp, the club took the opportunity to reconfigure its space so that there was better flow between its indoor and outdoor spaces, and to take advantage of views of the surrounding sports fields.
The main sports bar area received three giant screens across the back wall, including a 7sqm LED, as well as additional booth seating for groups. The alfresco dining area was also given a facelift, with its own 13.5sqm LED screen, new banquet seating, updated LED lighting and new tiles.
The gaming room was also redesigned with new carpet, a new cashier area, and additional space between machines.
Plus, the club took the opportunity rebrand its club bistro, Indulge Brasserie, to Lighthorse Kitchen, as a nod to the club’s historical ties to the Holsworthy Army Barracks, which used to be housed on the land where the club now stands. To reflect the name change, a raft of cosmetic updates were made to bring a new luxe feel to the dining area.
The club’s military connection was also considered as part of the design when the main bathrooms was being updated with metal finishes and lightening strikes.
“Our design choices pay homage to our military connections whilst keeping patron comfort at the forefront,” Taylor said.
The club worked with Altis Architects and FDC Construction and Fitout on the renovation, which took the club about a year to complete.
“The feedback from our members and guests has been really positive especially with the cosmetic design choices we’ve made. It looks and feels like a Club that belongs in the Moorebank, Hammondville, Holsworthy communities,” Taylor said.
