Kogarah Clubhouse in Sydney’s south has signed a 10-year lease agreement with coworking company Wotso Flexspace to establish a coworking space in Tower B of the club’s development.
Wotso is an ASX-listed company that offers flexible workspaces across Australia and New Zealand.
Under the agreement, a 600-square-metre vacant space will be converted into an office with 120 desks. The space was previously leased by Wesley Mission.
Speaking with Club Management, Kogarah Clubhouse general manager Grant Amer said he hopes the new lease will attract additional visitors to the clubhouse.
“Wotso is really progressive. You’ve got people bringing in their dogs to the office, and it’s really trendy. We believe there will be a flow-on effect, bringing more visitors to the club,” he said.
Amer described the partnership with Wotso as serendipitous.
“It was just a bit of a fluke,” he said.
“I was introduced to Wotso when I attended an event at neighbouring St George Motor Boat Club, and they mentioned they were looking to expand.”
When the club was rebuilt in 2012, it became a multi-storey, multi-use development that includes apartments and commercial spaces.
Amer admitted that while the space “could easily be a physio or a doctor’s room,” the club couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have 120 potential patrons walking through the doors of Wotso Flexspace.
This will be Wotso’s first location in Sydney’s south.
“We feel there is an undersupply of purpose-built flexible space in the south of Sydney, so we saw the space at Kogarah as an opportunity to fill this gap,” Wotso CEO Jessie Glew said.
“We also see a nice connection between it and our Botany space.”
The coworking space is slated to open on 1 April.
