Easts Leagues Club in Brisbane’s southside has completed a sweeping $10 million renovation, unveiling a sophisticated and modernised space designed to enhance the overall experience for members and guests.

The transformation, which began in April 2023 and was completed in November 2024, was driven by the club’s vision to evolve alongside the growing demands of its community. General manager Jan Broodryk said the decision to renovate stemmed from extensive market research and an analysis of development trends in the area.

“It became clear that a major refresh was necessary to keep the club relevant and appealing,” she said.

“We wanted to create a more sophisticated and luxurious space that would enhance the overall experience and cater to a broader market.”

The project saw the club partner with Clui Design, Cayas and Ward Architects, Coha Group and Focus Construct on the project. Together, they reimagined the club’s interior, maximising functionality while introducing a contemporary aesthetic.

According to Broodryk, prior to the renovation, the club had a more traditional look, with smaller, segmented spaces that didn’t maximise the potential of the venue anymore.

“While it served its purpose, the overall feel lacked the modernity and sophistication that many of our members and guests were seeking,” she said.

The redevelopment saw major upgrades across key areas, including the main dining spaces, the Lounge Bar, the coffee shop, and the creation of a new sports bar, called The Cross Bar.

The club’s function space also received a significant overhaul and has been rebranded as The Atkin Event Centre.

“This space is a more flexible and modern setting for conferences and special events and celebrations,” Broodryk said.

“The redesign of this space aimed to combine versatility, style, and functionality — making it the ideal venue for any occasion.”

Since the completion of the project, the response from members has been overwhelmingly positive, Broodryk shared. She pointed out how the addition of the new sports bar and revamped dining options have also attracted a younger demographic, while still catering to the club’s loyal members.

“It has reinvigorated the space, improving the flow and functionality of the venue,” she said.
