Northmead Bowling, Recreation and Sporting Club (NBC Sports Club) and Doyalson Wyee RSL Club, trading as the Doylo Lifestyle Group, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for an amalgamation.
“We believe that this MOU will help secure the future of your club and provide NBC Sports Club with the refurbishments and improvements that are required for us to continue to grow and become financially strong,” wrote NBC Sports Club president Trevor Oldfield and general manager Peter Swaby in a letter to members.
The amalgamation has been five months in the making since NBC Sports Club, located in Sydney’s west, called for expressions of interest from other registered clubs.
Along with the Doylo Lifestyle Group, other clubs that responded to the expressions of interest included Ingleburn RSL, Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club, Parramatta Leagues Club, Penrith RSL, Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club, Toongabbie Sports Club, and The Epping Club.
When the amalgamation is completed, Doyalson will be the parent club and NBC Sports Club will become the child club.
A general meeting will be held on August 13 where NBC Sports Club members will vote on the amalgamation.
“This is a very exciting time for NBC Sports Club and all our members and staff, and a time that sees a future for the club being a very bright one,” said the NBC Sports Club letter.
“Your board and general manager are extremely pleased with this outcome. It is the result of an enormous amount of hard work and due diligence, we believe it represents without any hesitation, the best opportunity for our club’s future.”
NBC Sports Club has more than 5,000 members and has played an important role in supporting the local community for over 70 years. The club holds 48 gaming machine entitlements and sits on approximately 3.1 acres of land.
