CHU by China Doll at West HQ has taken out the Best Restaurant Wine List – Club award for the second year in a row at Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards.
At the 30th anniversary of the awards, CHU by China Doll was in fine company, with the likes of Barangaroo’s Cirrus Dining taking out Wine List of the Year, Perth’s Mayfair Lane taking out the pub award, and The Crown Sydney’s Woodcut taking out the hotel award.
“We are thrilled that CHU by China Doll has been recognised by winning the Best Club Wine List of the Year for the second year in a row. This is another prestigious award added to the growing list of accolades this great restaurant in the heart of greater Sydney had achieved,” stated Michaela Chan, West HQ’s chief marketing officer.
“West HQ is focused on creating a destination that provides our guests with diverse experiences and quality offerings that reflects what is on offer from Sydney CBD venues. This commitment has seen us develop into an events business driven by our hospitality, fitness, leisure and entertainment-dedicated spaces.
“With this commitment we have an easily accessible venue providing premium dining experiences such as CHU Restaurant by China Doll which is certainly setting the benchmark in our sector and setting the national standard here in Western Sydney since its opening in 2019.
“CHU’s premium dining experience nicely complements the shows and performances in our Sydney Coliseum Theatre, a multi-mode theatre that is the first of its kind in Greater Western Sydney.”
This prestigious award is the latest of a growing list of CHU accolades, including the 2022 Wine List of The Year, a Three Glasses-rated wine list, Australian Good Food Guide chef’s hat, and a Daily Telegraph Best in Sydney Yum Cha recommendation.
At this year’s award a number of other clubs were also awarded with Three Glass ratings, including The Newcastle Club, RACV City Club’s Members Dining Room, and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron.
“Since day one, we set the bar high for a wine list to achieve a Three Glass ranking. Our first Awards in 1994 recognised nine lists with this outstanding honour, and it’s rewarding to see nearly 250 venues across the country achieve such a high-quality standard of wine list and service excellence 30 years after we started the program,” stated Rob Hirst, founder of Australia’s Wine List of the Year.
“These venues should be very proud of all they have put into their lists, and we are very happy to bring the industry together to celebrate these outstanding venues and their talented sommeliers.”
