Arely Carrion, known for her leadership in community programs at Mounties Group, has been appointed as ClubsNSW’s first-ever head of social impact.
Carrion has been with Mounties since 2019, most recently serving as executive manager of community. In that time, she spearheaded the group’s Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Action Plan, a program that has since been adopted by clubs across New South Wales.
A victim survivor of domestic violence herself, Carrion has also served as a non-executive director of both Bonnie Support Services and Bayside Women’s Shelter. She has also previously worked as a domestic violence service management associate at Insight Exchange.
ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant said Carrion’s experience and commitment to community outcomes is a very welcome addition to the organisation.
“Arely will be able to use her wealth of experience in the industry to lead the social impact strategy at ClubsNSW — which will include more crucial work in the domestic violence space and looking at how clubs can continue to provide for the growing number of people experiencing homelessness across the state, supporting youth in regional areas, as well as our veteran community — and that’s just the beginning,” she said.
Mounties Group CEO Dale Hunt described Carrion as a driving force of change.
“She has been an incredible asset to the Mounties Group and the local community as a result,” he said.
“While the Mounties Group is devastated to be losing her, we are absolutely thrilled to see Arely taking on a new challenge in the industry and we can’t wait to see the impact that she has at ClubsNSW and in clubs right across the state.”
For Carrion, the opportunity is both personal and professional.
“Registered clubs play such a pivotal role in their communities, and while they are already doing so much to support those in need, there is always more to be done and I can’t wait to get started,” she said.
“I really want to express my gratitude to Dale Hunt and the team at Mounties Group, as well as Leagues Clubs Australia CEO Don Hammond for believing in me and helping me to achieve what I have to date. This new opportunity would never have come about without their support and guidance.”
Carrion will officially step into the newly created role on 1 April.
