Cabra-Vale Diggers is teaming up with local charity 777 Movement to host a Christmas lunch for those experiencing homelessness and disadvantaged families in the Fairfield LGA.

This special event will include a visit from Santa, gifts for attendees, live music, activities for children, and a guest appearance by Macarthur Bulls mascot, Arthur the Bull.

This initiative is part of Cabra-Vale Diggers’ collaboration with 777 Movement to address homelessness in the local area, particularly in Cabramatta, which has the highest concentration of rough sleepers in the Fairfield LGA. The partnership supports the 777 Movement’s flagship project, Homeless to Home, which aims to transition rough sleepers from the streets into temporary housing and, ultimately, permanent accommodation.

“This is about more than just housing – it’s about restoring dignity, hope, and the chance for a fresh start,” Cabra-Vale Diggers CEO Boris Belevski said.

The Homeless to Home program focuses on providing safe, fully furnished temporary housing, complete with essentials like beds, couches, kitchenware, and personal care items. These homes are expected to serve as a starting point for people who are sleeping rough to rebuild their lives.

Each individual or family will then stay for a short period while 777 works with local housing services to secure permanent accommodation. Once settled, the home will be ready for the next person in need.

“Once they’re in the temporary home, we’ll help them with applications for permanent housing,” a 777 Movement project coordinator explained.

“This short-term stability can make a world of difference.”

The 777 Movement, a volunteer-run organisation, also provides free food packs and meaningful conversations every Thursday night for those in need. For many, these interactions offer a moment of relief, though the reality remains challenging.

“We can feed them, but we still have to leave them on the street,” according to the 777 Movement.

The club is also calling on local businesses, organisations, and individuals to support the 777 Movement through donations this Christmas.
