Australia’s first members-only club for tech and finance entrepreneurs and investors, The Pillars, that is set to open early next year in Sydney’s CBD, has secured Bentley Restaurant Group as its hospitality partner.
Under the plans, Bentley Group will open a new yet-to-be-named 120-seater grill restaurant alongside an 80-seater bar at 11 Barrack Street on the ground floor of The Pillars.
According to Bentley Restaurant Group chef Brent Savage and sommelier Nick Hildebrand, the new venue, slated to open in early 2025, will be the exclusive caterer for the club.
“We’ve been trying to secure the site at 11 Barrack Street ever since the closure of Seta, as we believe that it has the bones to become one of Sydney’s great restaurants,” they said.
The Pillars is being jointly established by a group of tech honchos including Airtasker founder Jonathan Liu and Bradley Delamere, chief executive of coworking space Tank Stream Labs.
“The Aussie startup and investor ecosystem has grown immensely over the past decade with the rise of world-changers like Canva and Atlassian, and whilst it’s been so inspiring to see it continue to grow and having directly supported it with our Tank Stream Labs workspaces, there is still a bigger opportunity for us to stay much more connected as a community. … So, we’re planning to change this by launching Australia’s first entire building dedicated to our community of innovators and game changers,” Liu wrote in a LinkedIn post.
The members-only club will be situated across four levels of the historic venue that was once the site of Australia’s first savings bank built in 1849.
In addition to housing the restaurant and bar on the ground floor, there’s also the heritage bank vault that will be used for members-only tasting events and exclusive dining offerings.
On the first floor, there’ll be a private library, a bar, breakout areas and meeting rooms. The second floor will be home to a members lounge, while the third floor is a dedicated wellness space featuring private infrared saunas and ice bath for recovery. A rooftop garden also resides on the third floor.
