Magpies Sports Club has announced that from next year it will be undergoing a major transformation.
“As Magpies has grown in popularity over the years, our venue is often at or near capacity and a redevelopment will allow us to better cater to the needs of our Club members and their guests,” Magpies Sports Club general manager Darren Smith told Club Management.
The club revealed that within the first two stages of its three-stage development, the clubhouse’s reception entrance will be moved to the eastern precinct of the club where a new porte-cochere all-weather pick-up and drop-off zone will be established.
The gaming lounge will double in size and feature a more luxurious space for players, an elegant gaming bar, keno lounge with a large screen viewing area, and a designated outdoor smoking area. Also doubling in size will be the club’s cafe, which Smith said is currently “bursting at the seams”.
“Our new cafe will be more spacious and on-trend, and become an even more popular meeting place for members of the community,” he said.
The club’s existing restaurant will be expanded to accommodate for more patrons. The new-look restaurant will be complemented with a new food offering.
Smith added the kids play area will undergo a significant makeover, tripling in size and feature a variety of interactive activities for children of all ages.
The club’s administration and staff facilities will also be rebuilt on the upper level of the club to accommodate its 140 employee, a team that is expected to increase upon the completion of the redevelopment.
The club has partnered with BSPN Architecture on the renovations and hopes that the first two stages of the project will be completed with a 12-month schedule.
“The club have been working closely with architects BSPN to create an open floor plan where all areas of our operations flow smoothly into one another,” Smith said.
Stage three will see the overhaul of the club’s existing sports bar into a new lounge, which will feature live sports on the video wall, contemporary new food and beverage offerings, as well a modern feel. This final stage will also include the build of a new deck overlooking the club’s sporting fields.
