Sandhills Sports Club has unveiled its $8 million redevelopment and new clubhouse on the old home of the Bargara Bowls Club, near Bundaberg. Complete with a new bistro, dining area, kitchen, all-new lounge, sports bar, children’s area and car park, the Ashley Cooper Construction project has transformed the space into a modern entertainment, dining and gaming venue.
Just 15 minutes east of Bundaberg, Sandhills Sports Club now has an open-plan bistro, café, kids room, bars, gaming and TAB alongside lawn bowls with BSPN Architecture helping bring the project to life. The names of the new offerings have been inspired by the club’s seaside location with Ripples Bistro, Dune Bar and Sand Bar now a feature of the refurbished club.
“A huge thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate the Grand Opening of our new clubhouse,” the club posted.
“Our team have worked long and hard on this project, so it was amazing to see our community come together to celebrate with us.”
The unveiling follows on from the club installing a MakMax cyclone-rated canopy over its greens in 2020 which resulted in a boost to membership. Bargara Bowls and Sports Club merged with Bundaberg Services Club in 2013 and was later renamed Sandhills Sports Club.
Ashley Cooper Construction has also worked on Carina Leagues Club’s new sports bar and café, a two-stage renovation of the gaming room at Maroochy RSL and the major renovation of the Caboolture Sports Club.
